2025: 50 Years of Japan-EU Friendship!
2025/1/16

The year 2025 marks the 50th anniversary since the establishment of the Mission of Japan to the EU. Therefore, we are celebrating the 50 years of friendship between Japan and the European Union this year. Japan and the EU are partners, united by shared fundamental values and principles.
I) Official Logo for the 50th anniversary
To further strengthen Japan-EU friendship, we held a public contest to design an official logo for the 50th anniversary. Among many submissions, the winning design by Izumi Watanabe from Saitama Prefecture was selected. The Mission would like to thank the many participants who took their time to enter.
The logo features a circle formed from a paulownia tree, a symbol of happiness in Japan, intertwined with 12 stars representing the EU’s principles of perfection and unity. This combination symbolises the aspiration for an enduring and everlasting friendship between Japan and the EU.
