Bon Appétit JAPON 2024(at Renaissance Brussels Hotel)

On the evening of 11 March, the 13th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake, the Mission of Japan to the EU and the Embassy of Japan in Belgium hosted “Bon Appétit JAPON 2024”.
This event offered new encounters with delicious, and beautiful Japanese food and seafood delicacies. More than 250 people from food-related business participated in the event.

 
Followed by a video showcasing the reconstruction of the Tohoku region at the start of the event, Ambassador Kazutoshi AIKAWA made opening remarks and highlighted the importance of the EU’s decision in August 2023 to lift import measures on Japanese food products in providing more opportunities to enjoy food and drinks from Japan. To commemorate the event and wish for a bright future, a Kagami-biraki, or barrel opening ceremony, was held with the participation of Ambassador and Mrs. Aikawa, Ambassador Masahiro MIKAMI of the Embassy of Japan in Belgium, and special guests Mr. Shinji OKAZAKI and Mr. Ryota MORIOKA, professional football players based in Belgium.

A wide range of food and drink booths were organized by Japanese chefs, restauranteurs, and importers, which were also supported by students from ULB.  (See the list of exhibitors here)
