Staff member at Economic Section, Mission of Japan to the EU

The Mission of Japan to the EU in Brussels wishes to hire a bilingual (French and English) Secretary (m/f) for its Economic Section.

1. Job description
  • Administrative and personal support to diplomats.
    • Work on agendas, appointments/reservations.
    • Answering calls, taking messages and handling correspondence.
    • Receiving visitors at the reception.
  • Researching information.
  • Contacts with European institutions and with the Belgian protocol service, etc.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned
2. Your profile
  • Strong interest in Japan (culture /language), in the relations between Japan and the EU. Experience in work, academics related to Japan is a plus.
  • Experience in an administrative/secretarial function is preferable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and English (native level).
  • Knowledge and understanding of Dutch is a plus.
  • Understanding of Japanese working culture is a plus.
  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, dedication and discretion.
  • Work permit required for Non-EU citizens.
3. Working conditions:
  • Gross salary: Approximately €2,800-3,200 per month (including taxes). The amount is negotiable depending on experience and may be adjusted in accordance with local legislation
  • Overtime compensation (in accordance with Belgian legislation)
  • Transport allowance
  • Year-end bonus
  • Annual leave in accordance with Belgian law, plus additional Japanese public holidays
4. Working hours:
Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., full-time (35 hours/week, in accordance with Belgian legislation
 
5. Place of work: Office of the Mission of Japan to the European Union in Brussels
 
6. Employment contract: Fixed-term contract
 
7. Additional information:
The expected start date for this position is second-half of September 2026. The scope of duties may change depending on the needs of the Mission.
