The Mission of Japan to the European Union is seeking a candidate for an office Clerk

1. Description of the position:
  • Administrative work related to construction projects for the maintenance, renovation, and repair of buildings belonging to the Mission (main duty)
  • General office tasks
  • Assistance with office accounting
  • Communication and negotiation with external contractors
  • Information gathering
  • Proofreading of official documents and correspondence
 
2. Required skills (knowledge of diplomacy is not required):
  • Strong communication and administrative skills in both Japanese and French
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office
  • A flexible attitude and the ability to work collaboratively in a friendly environment
  • A valid work permit for Belgium (for non-EU citizens)
 
3. Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience in an administrative role
  • Proficiency in English
  • Knowledge of local administrative procedures
  • Familiarity with Japanese culture and business customs
  • Work experience in the architecture/construction field

4. Working conditions:
  • Gross salary: Approximately €3,000 per month (including taxes). The amount is negotiable depending on experience and may be adjusted in accordance with local legislation
  • Overtime compensation (in accordance with Belgian legislation)

5. Working hours:
Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., full-time (35 hours/week, in accordance with Belgian legislation)
 
6. Place of work: Office of the Mission of Japan to the European Union in Brussels

7. Employment contract: Fixed-term contract

8. Additional information:
The expected start date for this position is between July and August 2026. The scope of duties may change depending on the needs of the Mission.
