Call for submissions for the commemorative logo for the 50th Anniversary of the Mission of Japan to the European Union in 2025.
2025 will mark the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of Japan’s Mission to the European Union in Brussels. To commemorate this milestone, the Mission is inviting members of the public to submit logo designs marking the 50th anniversary.
The submission guidelines are as follows:

2025 will mark the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of Japan’s Mission to the European Union in Brussels. To commemorate this milestone, the Mission is inviting members of the public to submit logo designs marking the 50th anniversary.
The submission guidelines are as follows:
1) Submission requirements
- Eligibility: In principle, anyone residing in the European Union is eligible to apply, regardless of nationality, age, or other factors.
- Deadline: submissions must be received by Sunday 5 January 2025.
- Submission address: The Mission of Japan to the EU, Brussels, Belgium.
- Method of selection: The submitted designs will be reviewed by the Mission of Japan to the EU, and the best design will be chosen as the 50th anniversary logo.
- Announcement of results: The results will be announced on the websites and social media of the Mission of Japan to the EU.
2) Submission procedure
- Please submit the original data along with a submission form stating your name, country of residence and an explanation of the idea behind the design, etc. as an email attachment to the address listed in 3 (1) below. Please note that submissions via postal mail will not be accepted.
- Each design proposal must be submitted electronically in JPEG or PDF format, with a resolution of 300 dpi or higher, and a maximum size of 3 MB per design. The applicant may be asked to change the format of the submitted design data.
- Please provide an explanation of the idea behind the design proposal in approximately 50 words on the submission form. The explanation will be made public when the best design proposal is announced.
- Please submit two versions of your design, one in colour (no restrictions on the number of colours, gradations, etc.) and one in black-and-white.
- You may submit as many logo designs as you wish.
- Design proposals and materials submitted will not be returned.
- The logo must be a totally original design, not infringing on any copyrights including in any of the elements used and unsued by any other party elsewhere for any other purpose.

4) Special attention
- Submitted logo designs must be new and created by the applicant, not previously published anywhere, and must not infringe on copyrights, trademarks, etc., of any third parties.
- Entries that are offensive to public order and morals or other legal provisions, contain slander or defamation, or infringe trademarks, copyrights or other rights of third parties will not be considered. If it is found that these conditions have been violated even after the submission has been accepted, the submission will be invalidated.
- The selected design will be subject to any edits, alterations or processing necessary for use. In the event the logo is found to be unsatisfactory after the selection process, or if agreement cannot be reached as to revisions to the logo, the selected design will be withdrawn from use
- All rights to submitted designs and the copyright to the selected logo will belong to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. Those submitting designs agree that all rights, titles and interests are transferred without any compensation and that any moral rights in relation to the selected logo will be waived by submitting and signing the entry form, and cannot be exercised. In principle, submitted designs will not be altered other than to adjust size, convert to black-and-white, or to translate into Japanese or English.
- The selected logo may be withdrawn from use, if any information submitted with the design is later determined to be false.
- The selected logo design in its final form will be distributed to parties authorized by Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and will be used in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of the Mission of Japan to the EU.
- Applicants agree that their personal data will be processed for the purpose of selecting the selected proposal. Personal information of applicants will not be disclosed or provided to third parties without the applicant's permission.
- Receipt of submissions will not be acknowledged, and authors of designs not selected will not be contacted. We regret that no inquiries concerning the judgment process can be accepted.
