On 26 October 2021, Mr OSHIMA Shuhei, Commissioner at the Personal Information Protection Commission of Japan and Mr Didier REYNDERS, European Commissioner for Justice, held a joint review meeting on the EU-Japan mutual adequacy arrangement for personal data.
At the meeting, they affirmed the progress of the joint review on the adequacy decisions made by each side in January 2019. After the meeting, the EU-Japan Joint Statement was published.
