A small haiku event/dinner with H.E. Mr. Van Rompuy, former President of the European Council (Haiku Ambassador for Japan-EU Friendship)
On 28 July, Ambassador Kodama invited H.E. Mr. Van Rompuy, former President of the European Council and his spouse to the residence and hosted a small haiku even/dinner during which H.E. Mr. Van Rompuy, Haiku Ambassador for Japan-EU Friendship, and other participants presented their own Haiku. Taking into account the current Corona measures, we have limited participants to 4 people (H.E. Mr. Van Rompuy and his spouse as guests and Ambassador Kodama and Ms. Suzuki from the Mission).
- H.E. Mr. Van Rompuy introduced the following Haiku:
1st Haiku: After watching birds making a nest on the wall of his house
Twig for twig
Birds building their nest
on a wall of our nest
2nd Haiku:
The light at sea
makes our steps lighter
An air of hope
3rd Haiku:
The setting sun
Glistening sea water
Half open eyes
4th Haiku (during the corona lockdown)
Corona silence
Displace the least urgent
The time for the reflection
- Ambassador Kodama read the following Haiku. He was inspired by the trees surrounding the residence with their green and beautiful leaves during the quiet corona period.
Lush green of Watermael-Boitsfort
An eerie quiet
As if nothing has happened
