2019 Autumn Conferment of Decoration on Foreign Nationals
On 3 November, the Government of Japan announced the 2019 Autumn Conferment of Decoration on Foreign Nationals in which the Honorable Alojz Peterle, former Member of the European Parliament, and the Honorable Pedro Silva Pereira, Member of the European Parliament (Vice-President), were decorated for their contributions.

Decoration: Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun
Services: Contributed to strengthening bilateral relations and promoting friendship and goodwill between Japan and Slovenia. Contributed also to enhancing relations between Japan and the EU.
The Honorable Pedro Silva Pereira
Decoration: The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon
Services: Contributed to strengthening economic relations between Japan and the EU and promoting inter-parliamentary exchanges between Japan and the EU.
