Hosting the Thé de l’Amitié Belgo-Japonaise
In the afternoon of 20 June, Ambassador Kodama hosted the Thé de l’Amitié Belgo-Japonaise* at his residence. A total of 28 members of the Thé de l’Amitié participated in this event.
Ambassador Kodama gave a brief speech which was followed by a beautiful classical concert, performed by violinist, Ms. Pauline Larreta, who was accompanied by pianist, Mr. Luc Devos. Afterwards, the guests enjoyed a light lunch, including canapes served with homegrown herbs and traditional Japanese sweets made by Ambassador Kodama's chef. The guests had a pleasant afternoon, strolling around the garden and chatting with other members.
*Thé de l’Amitié Belgo-Japonaise was created by the wife of the Ambassador of Japan to Belgium in 1971. By doing so, she was responding to the request of an experienced and enthusiast group of Japanese art collectors that had gathered since 1968 to exchange their respective cultural experiences relating to Japan. The association aims to promote inter-cultural exchange between Belgian and Japanese citizens through “Thé de l’Amitié Belgo-Japonaise” meetings.
