The 1st Japan-EU Policy Dialogue on Education, Culture and Sport
On 6 July 2018, the 1st Japan-EU Policy Dialogue on Education, Culture and Sport was held in Budapest (Hungary). The meeting was attended by Mr. Yoshimasa Hayashi, Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Mr. Tibor Navracsics, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, and their colleagues.
In this policy dialogue, participants exchanged information on education, culture and sports policies on both sides. At the meeting, it was decided that the following two new Japan-EU joint initiatives would be launched from next year.
1. Student exchanges through highly integrated masters programmes between European and Japanese universities.
2. Short-term staff-exchange programmes for EU and MEXT officials.
