Conference organized by the STS forum and the European Parliament

 On 30 May 2017, the STS (Science and Technology in Society) Forum and the European Parliament STOA (Science and Technology Options Assessment) Panel organized the 2nd high-level conference entitled “The Future of Mobility” at the European Parliament building in Brussels.
The STS forum aims to provide a new mechanism for open discussion and to build a human network that would resolve the new types of problems stemming from the application of science and technology.
During the conference, important issues regarding the future of mobility were discussed, such as: how we want to meet our mobility needs of tomorrow, what technical developments would be desirable, and what role policy and politics will need to play in order to promote and facilitate a sustainable and favourable transition.
The conference began with opening remarks by Mr. Ramón Luis VALCÁRCEL SISO, European Parliament Vice-President responsible for STOA, Mr. Koji OMI, Founder and Chairman of the STS forum, Dr. Paul RÜBIG, MEP, 1st Vice - Chair of STOA, and H.E. Mr. Kazuo KODAMA, Ambassador of Japan to the European Union. This was followed by stimulating keynote speeches and panel discussions.
 After the conference, Ambassador Kodama held a reception at his official residence. Many distinguished guest speakers and panelists attended this reception.
