Ambassador Kodama's visit to the European Parliament in Strasbourg

On October 26th and 27th, Ambassador Kodama visited the European Parliament in Strasbourg to attend the regular meeting of the Delegation for relations with Japan and exchanged views on strengthening economic relations between Japan and the EU amidst the latest movements towards Brexit. Ambassador Kodama also attended a meeting of the Delegation for relations with the Korean Peninsula to explain the current situation and Japan’s position on the issues of North Korea’s nuclear testing, launching of ballistic missiles and the unresolved issue of Japanese abductees, where several MEPs expressed their strong concern on all these issues and expressed their support for the ongoing efforts to address these issues at the UN Security Council. Ambassador Kodama has been hoding regular meetings with MEPs in Brussels since his arrival in September. Upon his visit to Strasbourg, the Ambassador and the MEPs also held an active discussion over the measures to resolve these issues. Ambassador Kodama also met Mr. Bruno GOLLNISCH, Mr. Daniel CASPARY, Mr. David MARTIN, Mr. Csaba SÓGOR, Ms. Marietje SCHAAKE respectively.
