October 2nd and 3rd witnesses the ASEM Seminar on Adaptation to Climate Change will be held in Tokyo. The seminar will be co-hosted by Japan, the European Commission, the Republic of Korea, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Vietnam.

Also in attendance will be officials, experts, and other concerned parties and organisations from ASEM member countries. The main topic for discussion will be "adaptation" to the negative effects of climate change, with a focus on five fields: water resources, health, agriculture, disaster prevention and biodiversity.

Among the aims of the seminar are the sharing of scientific knowledge and experience among ASEM members, and the improvement of the capacity of each country to cope with the issue of adaptation to the negative effects of climate change, which is an urgent task that the international community must deal with together.  The results of the seminar will be reported to the Seventh Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM 7) at the end of October.
