Garden Party 2012
Ambassador Shiojiri at the Garden Party 2012.
The annual Garden Party took place on a jovial afternoon of September 5th at the official residence of Ambassador Shiojiri.
The guests enjoyed top quality red wines from a winery in Bordeaux, which is owned by a famous Japanese wine maker, alongside the award winning sparkling wines and white wines made in Japan. Highly acclaimed Japanese sakes, which won gold medals at an international wine contest, were also served to welcome the guests.
Furthermore, the guests thoroughly enjoyed the Japanese cuisine served; above all the sushi. Some of the sushi served was made with Japanese rice from the Fukushima area, which was kindly provided by Zen-noh (National Federation of Agricultural Cooperative Associations). This rice, just like all other Japanese food, passed strict controls before exportation and was officially certified as such.
At the party, the Haiku Post was installed so that interested guests could post their own haiku poems. Ambassador Shiojiri, took this opportunity to compose a haiku:
Blow with fresh breath
Balloon of hopes
To our future
Overall, the party was a huge success with an unprecedented number of guests from various different backgrounds attending to kick start the post-summer season.
